The math
It's not your willpower. It's their business model.
Behind every app are thousands of people whose job is to keep you there. Good intentions don't beat them. Distance does.
we spend on our phones on an average day
we unlock them – every single day
of waking life, over a lifetime
Conservatively: 4 hours a day, from your first smartphone into old age, measured against 16 waking hours. The full math is in the FAQ.
The object
An egg, black as obsidian.
No screen. No battery. No noise. Just cool, glossy black, surprisingly heavy in your hand – and inside it, the technology that holds your distractions for as long as you want.

Glossy, not matte
Polished like black stone. An object you like to pick up – and like to leave alone.
No power needed
No battery, no cable, no updates. The egg wakes when your phone touches it.
Stays home
The egg is not a gadget for your pocket. It's the place where your distractions live while you're out.
The ritual
Three seconds between you and quiet.

Choose what holds you
In the Yeara app, you decide which apps are locked without the egg: social media, news, games – your call.
Touch the egg
Hold your phone to the egg – the chosen apps close. Calls, messages, maps, camera: everything essential stays.
Go live your life
The egg stays home. Back? Touch it again and everything returns. For real emergencies there's an exception – one that never becomes a habit.
Why an object
Apps versus apps is a losing game.
Blocker apps live on the same screen as your distraction. One tap and they're off – by the same hand they were meant to protect.
An object is different. It sits quietly in your home, heavy and patient. The walk to the egg – thirty seconds, maybe a flight of stairs – is exactly the space where an impulse becomes a decision again.
Yeara doesn't make your phone dumb. It makes your distraction inconvenient. That's enough.

Questions
What you'll want to know.
Does Yeara work with my phone?
Yes. The Yeara app is available for iPhone and Android. It uses the official screen-time features of your system – no tricks, no workarounds.
What if I need a locked app while I'm out?
For real emergencies there's a limited number of remote unlocks. Deliberately limited: a back door that's always open is not a door anymore.
Do I decide what gets locked?
Completely. You choose the apps that sleep without the egg. Phone, messages, maps, camera and everything you truly need always stay.
Does the egg need power or Wi-Fi?
No. No battery, no charging, no updates. The technology inside is woken by your phone when you touch it.
Does Yeara need a subscription?
Yes. The Yeara app is funded by a subscription – not by ads or your data. As an early adopter, your first year is included. We'll communicate what follows transparently, long before you have to decide.
How do you get to 20 years?
Conservatively: 4 hours a day on the phone – many people are well past that. From your first smartphone at ten to the ninetieth birthday today's young in Western countries can expect on average, that's 80 years. Measured against 16 waking hours a day: 4 ÷ 16 × 80 = 20 years of waking life.
When does it ship?
The first series ships in autumn 2026. You'll receive a piece from the first, limited production run – and short updates from us along the way.
What if it's not for me?
You have 30 days from delivery. If the egg doesn't fit your life, send it back undamaged – you get the purchase price back and only cover return postage. We're fairly sure you'll keep it.
What about my data?
Yeara makes money on the egg and the subscription – not on your data. No ads, no selling data, no analyzing your behavior for third parties.
The years don't come back. Unless you take them.
