Yeara App Terms of Use
1. Scope
These terms govern the use of the Yeara app for iPhone and Android (“app”). The app is provided by Pingvite AG, Strehlgasse 2, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland (UID CHE-184.686.389), which operates Yeara (“we”). Contact: hello@yeara.co.
By signing in to the app you accept these terms. The purchase of the Yeara egg is governed by our terms of sale (German).
2. Service
The app belongs to the Yeara egg. It keeps the apps and websites you chose yourself locked. You can unlock them by holding the egg to your phone, each time for a duration you choose; after that they are locked again. On iPhone the lock is enforced by Apple's Screen Time, on Android through permissions you grant the app. The app locks nothing you did not choose.
The app is available to owners of a Yeara egg. An active Yeara Membership is required to lock apps. The first month from the first pairing of your egg with the app is free. After that, the membership currently costs CHF 5.99 per month and can be cancelled monthly. Without an active membership, the app does not lock any apps. If your egg was bought with “Yeara app included”, even if you received it as a gift, you use the app free of charge, without a membership and without time limit. Orders placed under earlier terms keep the benefits agreed at the time. Details are set out in the terms of sale. On iPhone, the app requires iOS 16.4 or newer and access to Screen Time; on Android, a phone with Android 8 or newer and NFC, and the permissions the app asks for during setup. Websites can only be locked on iPhone. Without a Yeara egg the app cannot lock anything.
3. Account
You need an account to use the app. You sign in with your email address and receive a login code; there is no password. One account per person. Keep access to your email address – it is your access to the account.
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings › Account › Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data.
4. Use and limits
The lock is a tool, not a guarantee. It can be lifted, for example through your phone's settings or by revoking the app's access to Screen Time or the permissions you granted. We do not promise that chosen apps stay locked under all circumstances.
Without the egg you can lift the lock with an emergency unlock. You have five in total per account. They are not renewed.
You use the app only for its intended purpose. In particular, misuse of the app, circumventing technical protections, reverse engineering and passing the app or parts of it on to third parties are not permitted.
5. Availability and changes
We may change, add or discontinue features of the app and end its operation. We will inform you of material changes in the app or by email. Keep the app up to date; older versions may stop working.
We aim for reliable operation but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. For downloads from the App Store, Apple's terms apply in addition; for downloads from Google Play, Google's terms apply.
6. Privacy
How we process personal data is described in our privacy policy. Which apps you lock stays on your phone and is not transmitted to us.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for slight negligence and for indirect and consequential damages is excluded. This applies in particular to calls, messages and notifications that do not reach you because you locked the relevant app. Liability for gross negligence and intent remains.
8. Final provisions
Swiss law applies. Place of jurisdiction is Zürich; mandatory statutory places of jurisdiction remain reserved.
Should a provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force. The invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its purpose.
We may amend these terms. The current version is available at yeara.co/en/terms. In case of doubt, the German version at yeara.co/nutzungsbedingungen prevails.
