Yeara App Terms of Use

1. Scope

These terms govern the use of the Yeara app for iPhone (“app”). The app is provided by Pingvite AG, Strehlgasse 2, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland (UID CHE-184.686.389), which operates Yeara together with Hoessly Labs (sole proprietorship, owner Michael Hoessly) (“we”). Contact: hello@yeara.co.

By signing in to the app you accept these terms. The purchase of the Yeara egg is governed by our terms of sale (German).

2. Service

The app belongs to the Yeara egg. It locks the apps and websites you chose yourself as soon as you hold the egg to your iPhone, and opens them again at the next touch. The lock is enforced by Apple's Screen Time. The app locks nothing you did not choose.

The app is available to owners of a Yeara egg. The core features (Yeara Free) are free permanently; the purchase of the egg additionally includes Yeara Pro for the first year. Once that year ends you can keep using the app free of charge. Details are set out in the terms of sale. The app requires an iPhone with iOS 16.4 or newer and access to Screen Time. Without a Yeara egg the app cannot lock anything.

3. Account

You need an account to use the app. You sign in with your email address and receive a login code; there is no password. One account per person. Keep access to your email address – it is your access to the account.

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings › Account › Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data.

4. Use and limits

The lock is a tool, not a guarantee. It can be lifted, for example through the iOS settings or by revoking the app's access to Screen Time. We do not promise that chosen apps stay locked under all circumstances.

Without the egg you can lift the lock with an emergency unlock. You have five in total per account. They are not renewed.

You use the app only for its intended purpose. In particular, misuse of the app, circumventing technical protections, reverse engineering and passing the app or parts of it on to third parties are not permitted.

5. Availability and changes

We may change, add or discontinue features of the app and end its operation. We will inform you of material changes in the app or by email. Keep the app up to date; older versions may stop working.

We aim for reliable operation but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. For downloads from the App Store, Apple's terms apply in addition.

6. Privacy

How we process personal data is described in our privacy policy. Which apps you lock stays on your iPhone and is not transmitted to us.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for slight negligence and for indirect and consequential damages is excluded. This applies in particular to calls, messages and notifications that do not reach you because you locked the relevant app. Liability for gross negligence and intent remains.

8. Final provisions

Swiss law applies. Place of jurisdiction is Zürich; mandatory statutory places of jurisdiction remain reserved.

Should a provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force. The invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its purpose.

We may amend these terms. The current version is available at yeara.co/en/terms. In case of doubt, the German version at yeara.co/nutzungsbedingungen prevails.
